Boston Medical Center created this first of its kind innovative center to provide SUD crisis and overdose stabilization. Services include a low-barrier SUD-focused clinic offering walk-in urgent care, medications for SUD, infection screening and prevention, and a 24/7 short-stay stabilization unit to manage over-intoxication, withdrawal, and complications of substance use (e.g., abscesses, HIV risk, psychosis) that is not contingent upon abstinence.

Dr. Komaromy is the Medical Director of the Grayken Center for Addiction, Boston Medical Center, Boston University. Dr. Komaromy is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine and Internal Medicine. She has extensive clinical, educational, evaluation, and leadership experience related to treatment of substance use disorders. As Medical Director for the Grayken Center for Addiction at Boston Medical Center, she oversees the study and treatment of Substance Use Disorders, as well as local and national policy and advocacy work to improve the care of people who have substance use disorders. In the past, Dr. Komaromy has served as the medical director of a state-funded addiction treatment hospital, has led programs in the US and internationally to train primary care providers in treatment of addiction, and has implemented treatment programs for people who are experiencing homelessness and have substance use disorders. She is the Vice President of AMERSA, a leading interdisciplinary addiction treatment professional organization, and has served on the national board of the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
